Success Stories

When I retired in 2015, I had gone to the doctor and discovered my glucose and A1C readings were high. I didn’t have the time or energy to dedicate to exercise while I was working, but I knew something needed to change. My doctor wanted to start me on meds, but I wanted to give exercise a chance.

Right after that, I came into The Med Gym. I got evaluated, an exercise program was designed specifically for me, and I got started on the program. My big focus was to lower my A1C and lose weight. I’m now in my 6th year at The Med Gym, and I keep going because I’ve seen tremendous benefits in many different areas as well. Not only have I achieved my initial goal, but I also have seen amazing physical, mental, and emotional benefits.

I see a variety of people come to The Med Gym from youth athletes to people with specific injuries and people using canes and walkers. They are all motivated to come in and work to get the benefits of the exercise and achieve their goals. Each person gets the direction and accountability they need to stay pain-free and have success.

Before coming to The Med Gym, I experienced a lot of discomfort and pain. I had both knees replaced and was dealing with a fractured kneecap. Physical therapy did help a lot and to continue my progress with strength, I was recommended to The Med Gym.

After about 6 weeks (going 2x/week), I have noticed so much improvement from the exercise program Calvin provided me. I am able to walk faster and farther with minimal pain, which makes my dogs happier. I still have room for improvement, however, my progress continues and I look forward to increasing weights and exercise repetitions in the future.

The COVID era was a real struggle for me emotionally and physically. I was not exercising much and I gained a lot of weight. I hit an all-time low in December 2022 when my doctor said that I had high blood pressure. I was given 30 days to make some diet/lifestyle changes or be put on BP medication. I contacted the nutritionist at The Med Gym, Erin Smeigh, who was a great help with making appropriate nutrition/supplementation changes. On top of some nutrition changes, I met with Bill Bodisch and started working out at The Med Gym.

Because of Med Gym, I got my blood pressure under control, I lost 20 pounds, and dropped 3 pant sizes. With Bill’s personalized exercise programs, my flexibility, balance and strength have greatly improved. They also take a holistic approach to improving your lifestyle through nutrition, resistance training and the new “InBody” equipment to assess my muscle vs fat.

I would absolutely recommend the Med Gym to others - it’s a good fit for just about any age, lifestyle, fitness/nutrition goals, etc. The trainers are personable and knowledgeable, and they personalize your program based on an initial assessment and your goals.

"I am able to do things I haven't been able to do for a long time."

Before my time at The Med Gym I had a significant shoulder injury on my right side. I had two failed shoulder surgeries with replacement, and a shoulder joint infection. A third surgery with replacement was on the calendar and I knew I was going to have to work really hard to make it work. I had lost almost all mobility and strength in my right arm. I couldn’t lift more than 5 lb or put my hand over my head which made washing, styling my hair, and getting dressed difficult. After doing physical therapy, I was referred to Kade at The Med Gym which completely turned my life around. Working with Kade has helped me regain strength and mobility in my right arm/shoulder and improve my overall health and fitness. I have a much easier time doing my regular daily activities- bathing, dressing, cooking, driving. I have more energy for other activities: walking, shopping, going out with friends.

Since I was using my left arm almost exclusively for years, I eventually needed a shoulder replacement on my left shoulder. However, because I had been coming to The Med Gym for some time, I was much stronger and in better shape. My recovery was much easier and quicker thanks to the great exercise program and the fantastic coaching and support that I have received. As a whole, I feel so much stronger and that makes me feel more confident in everything that I do. It affects every choice I make because I don’t question my strength, balance, energy, or stamina. I recommend The Med Gym to everyone! It’s a fun atmosphere with knowledgeable trainers who give you a program to follow based on exactly what you need.

"Med Gym is life changing"

I (Marianne) joined The Med Gym in August 2023 after completing physical therapy with the recommendation I can continue increasing mobility and strength at The Med Gym. I have pulmonary fibrosis and severe lymphedema so I don't feel like I belong in a gym, however, The Med Gym has given me the opportunity to work out and improve my pulmonary function and lose weight.

Ed, my husband, was my chauffeur but once he saw how much I enjoyed the gym and the progress I was making, he decided to give it a try. Instantly, he was hooked. He has spinal stenosis and two herniated discs, but with Kade’s programming, he can move better at work and has very little pain in his back.

We have decided to make our health a priority and The Med gym makes that fun. The programs are tailored towards your physical abilities, so when I had a setback with my ankle in December, Kade adjusted my program so that I could still exercise and feel better.  The team is just great! When Kade is busy, Bill comes over to help. I have also been doing nutrition coaching with Erin and have seen great changes there too. This place is life changing, I don’t know where we would be without them.

Move Better. Feel Better. Live Better.
